Twitter: paid services for professionals?

The site Twitter mini-blogs, used by more than six million people expected this year to find a way to generate revenue and may offer paid services for professionals, “said one of its founders.

“We have patients and investors some time to try out ideas and products that can generate income”, told AFP Thursday night the site founder Biz Stone. “We will begin testing this year. We do not need to succeed right away, but we are anxious to announce progress in this area, “he added.

Mr. Stone said Wednesday during an interview on public radio as a way to earn revenue might be to create accounts paid professionals.

He also indicated that Twitter remains focused on its growth. The company is headquartered in California (West), claims more than six million users and a “phenomenal growth” of 900% in 2008.

Twitter ( “chirp” in French), which allows its users to send free short messages to their contacts (maximum 140 characters), has seen its popularity explode since its inception in August 2006 but has still not managed to generate income.
